SB346, SB436 and SB572 are on the agenda of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 12.

SB 346              Bradley               Controlled Substances

Reduces prison sentencing for non-violent crimes; requires that custodial interrogations be electronically recorded. Proportionality and transparency are critical elements for fairness and justice in sentencing and incarceration.

SB 436              Montford           Youth in Confinement

Prohibits a youth from being placed in disciplinary confinement. Solitary confinement denies youth access to school services, recreation, or appropriate mental health services.

SB 572              Brandes              Extension of Confinement

Extends the limits of confinement to allow an inmate to participate in supervised community release. Frees prison facilities and resources for incarcerating violent criminal offenders.
